OpinionHead is now using Comment Luv!

This plug-in will automatically add a link to the last post from the website you use when posting a comment! So, post some comments already!

You can find a link to the site where “Comment Luv” comes from in the Useful Links category. I use a lot of plug-ins on this site, and Comment Luv rates at the top of the list, I definitely recommend it to anyone that has a blog, it encourages visitors to post comments!

Of course it could also invite SPAM, but I feel it is worth a try! Akismet will catch most of that anyway and it helps everybody! What a wonderful thing!

  1. For anybody that is looking, I have a new site, a traffic exchange site, I am also using commentluv there, so, go check it out and get more traffic to your site too! http://trafficcomplex.com/

  2. As far as plugins for Blogspot go, you would have to check with them, but you can follow the link under “Useful Links” above in the left sidebar to download it for WordPress, sorry about Blogspot, just get a WordPress blog instead.

  3. I have a “Blogspot” and I would have loved to use it if it were available for “Blogspot” too instead of being available for wordpress only.

Can you help me with this?

  7. I think CommentLuv is a great way to encourage comments, I use it in combination with Lucia’sLinkLove to control the dofollow / nofollow status of individual commentors to avoid a lot of comment spam

  9. I really like the Comment luv plugin but am scared of it hurting my site… as a compromise I do it on about 1/2 my sites and not on the others… it’s good for getting reader… bad for SEO… so I guess it’s all about what your going for

Thanks for the comment and the tip about NFF. As for NFF inviting spammers (I assume you’re talking about spambots and not spamming individuals) I don’t think so. Spambots are stupid enough to post their shit where ever they can. If they were that smart, they would ignore wordpress blogs, since WP blogs have rel=”nofollow” turned on by default.

Speaking of spam… I have an excellent homemade spam protection on my own blog. I don’t know if you noticed, but when you left your comment you didn’t have to fill in a captcha. My solution is based on Javascript. I use JS to apply a few changes to the data, which the spambots apparantly have a hard time imitating. In the few months I’ve had my protection running, the spams have dropped from tens per day to a total of two spams. (Which I believe were posted by humans, and were caught by WP because of their excessive amount of links)

The only problem with it though is that it’s a pure hack, and not a proper WP plugin. If you want to have a look at it, check the source of any page on my blog with a comment field and look for a piece of obfuscated JS.

  11. I have gotten into the “Do Follow” or “No Follow Free” movement, I didn’t even know that links in comments were not followed by the bots! Now I do, and I did something about it! I have tried many plugins for making the comment experience better for my visitors, some have worked, some haven’t, but you can rest assured, I have tried most, if not all of them!

  12. I guess that is the plugin you talked about in your comment on my blog :)

Good to see another blog using this very nice plugin.

P.S.: I only had a short look at your blog as I don’t have enough time right now. So far it is looking interesting, so maybe you just got another reader :)

  13. I am using CommentLuv. Of all of the plugins I have downloaded, this is my favorite.

  14. I did a test at my homebrew blog, and the plug-in didn’t add the link, I imagine it is because of Yahoo, that is the reason this site is hosted by Hostmonster, you will find a link to them at the bottom of the right sidebar. I will be switching all of my sites soon, as soon as I can!CarpetGuy’s last blog post..OpinionHead: My Newest Blog
