One thing I know about negotiation is that you don’t start at the losing end and expect to come out ahead. All you hear on the media these days is how the Tea Party Republicans won’t move off of their positions to meet the Spendaholic Dems half way, that is crazy, they have already given up way more than half!
The Tea Party wants a zero deficit budget, and yet moving to make cuts in a “future” increase, one that cannot be imposed on another Congress anyway is the best we can get? I don’t think so, if spending $100 was good enough before Obama, why do we have to spend $350 now? If the government takes in only $80, that is what they should be able to spend, period! Why does the budget have to increase every year? That is ridiculous to spend that much money. If you have ever lived on a fixed income you know what I mean, some things you have to save up for, other emergency things, yes, you go in debt, but you must pay it off or you get no more credit. Our government, all of it, from local on up, does it the other way, they borrow for new roads that are already there, instead of saving up, and just keeping the old roads and dealing with the potholes as they happen. I can remember back when dodging potholes was an everyday thing, almost a sport, now, we get our roads replaced long before the first crack!! My point is simple, STOP SPENDING!!
The Republicans need to start the negotiation from a zero deficit point and not give up the farm before the negotiation starts. This makes what the media says look true, if you have already predetermined where you are willing to draw the line you cannot go past it. We need a sales person in Washington that knows how to negotiate, not a politician. The debt must be dealt with now. We need someone to stand up and say NO, we cannot spend anymore money! The start point for negotiation should be pay off ALL of the debt, now! And work forward from there. By starting at MAYBE cutting the rate of growth of future spending, we have already lost! The goal should be zero deficit spending, period, ever!!
