The Government vs The People, you decide!

opinionhead words large 300x188 The Government vs The People, you decide! Here we are, waiting for President Obama to give his first State of the Union speech, and I expect it to be another of his me, me, me, lectures, about how he and the Government can solve or have already solved all of our problems but we are just too stupid to notice it. If I hear him blame President Bush one more time my head is going to explode!

The government is not the answer it is the problem, only President Reagan said it, and it is the truth, and the people are finally standing up and putting their votes where their mouths are! Look at what Massachusetts did, talk about a slap in the face! I bet ole Teddy is rolling in his grave! He and the rest of the progressive liberals just knew this was the way to government control, but even the people of the most liberal state in the union have said that is enough!

I expect to hear Obama talk about how wonderful he is, and how much the American people suck, and how he will fix everything no matter how bad Bush screwed it up! Of course he is going to seem to move more to the center, but it will all be lies, just as usual. This year is going to be an upsetting time for those socialist bastards that want to take us over and ruin our way of life, because now that our eyes have been opened, we shall vote them out, each and every one of them! Regardless of what lies Obama spews tonight, We The People, will overcome!

Pay close attention to what the “Chosen One” says,  it will be nothing but a regurgitation of the same crap the progressives always spew! His spending freeze is a joke, he increased the spending, and now wants to lock it in so it cannot be cut! Obama talks out of both sides of his neck, the progressives will stand up and cheer, but the rest of us should see through the lies, it is nothing but a bunch of crap! Just another way to try to take over the country and turn us into something we are not and do not want to be! Who do you want to be in control, We the People, or, the Government?

Ignorance is bliss!

sean hannityJust a day or two ago, I saw on Hannity, (Fox News), he had a panel of Democrats from New Jersey, the show was very interesting, and as usual, allowed the views from the “left” to be shared. I have to admit, I spend almost all of my day, and night, watching the news, and a limited few other programs, and reading books, but my world, my life, is basically here, on the Internet, so, I am able to keep up with what is actually going on in the world, and do not base my opinions on second or third hand information. This said, I am not judging anyone, I am just letting you know where I am coming from.

During this show, Hannity asked one guy if he liked paying taxes, and broke it down as to the facts about his state and local taxes making it that he paid more to live in a state that is in debt and has high unemployment. This guy, said he has to pay more in taxes to pay for states that don’t have state tax! Obviously, this poor uninformed man did not have a clue! State taxes go to that state, it is the federal taxes that go into the government fund and are supposed to be used to take care of the things that the Federal government is supposed to take care of, like our military, but, not the things the state is supposed to take care of like roads in that state.

You could summarize the definition of the word, “ignorance”, as, “not knowing”, thus, this man was ignorant to the facts. The type of government you have, the wasteful spending, the entitlements, the unions, and so on are what determine how much money a state needs and where they get this money. I live in the great state of Texas, we have no local or state taxes, and also have a balanced budget, unemployement is still lower than most states, and, the low taxes is at least part of the reason! Texas is a big place, has tons of roads, and no, they are not all perfect, I doubt any state is, but, we are doing pretty good. So, why do these “liberal” states have so many taxes? Ignorance! Yes, the people there, obviously, “don’t know”, that they too can have lower taxes, if, the adopt more conservative ways and move away from the fanatical fantasy of the “nanny state” that takes care of everything!

I met a guy from “up north” who was looking for a job, and couldn’t understand why here in Texas he got laughed at when looking for a job. The guy went on to explain that he just wanted to get paid about what he did “back home”, which was about $25 an hour, for a “helper” position. I couldn’t help but laugh when he said that he had been told, “we could hire three guys for that amount”, because I knew it was true. What this guy was so ignorant of, were the facts, that $25 an hour, put him in a higher tax bracket,  with the added local and state taxes, and the “Union Dues” he brought home less than the guy that got $8 an hour here! This means that three people have a job, spend money and keep the economy going. The cost of living is less here too because the business you buy your food or whatever from doesn’t have to pay those extra taxes to the city, state or union! You do the math, are you ignorant?

Update from U.S. Senator John Cornyn

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

With so many complex issues facing our nation, I was grateful for the opportunity to return to Texas to meet with people across the state and listen to their concerns about what is happening in Washington, how these issues affect them and what common-sense ideas they have for how best to address them.

Texas Del to National League of Cities 3 Email from Senator John Cornyn 4 16 09Just before recess, the Senate passed President Obama’s budget without any bipartisan support. Along with all of my Republican colleagues, I voted against the budget that spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much. The budget represents a missed opportunity for Congress to put policies in place that will encourage economic recovery, foster opportunities for Texans and all Americans, and prevent future generations from inheriting insurmountable debt.

Email from Senator John Cornyn 4 16 09One of the most disturbing aspects of the President’s budget is his proposal to limit the deduction for charitable contributions, which could cost charities and non-profit organizations nationwide anywhere from $4 billion to $9 billion annually. Last week I hosted a roundtable in Austin, where I met with representatives from local non-profit organizations at Meals on Wheels and More to hear their concerns about the President’s proposal. While I worked with both Senate Democrats and Republicans to reject the President’s proposal during the budget debate earlier this month, this does not mean Congress will not consider the President’s proposal in the future. Given today’s economic climate and with so many Americans hurting and in need of assistance, we should instead encourage charitable giving.

The economic downturn has led to greater demand for charitable services and placed a strain of many of these organizations already operating on limited resources. Homeless shelters across the state have seen a marked increase in the number of people seeking help. This week in Fort Worth, I am meeting with Mayor Mike Moncrief and other local officials who have been successful in reducing homelessness in their community. I hope to learn the keys to their success and share that with other cities and communities throughout Texas.

Meeting With Lubbock Mayor 3 Email from Senator John Cornyn 4 16 09While Americans participate  in the annual practice of filling out their federal taxes, I’m looking forward to meeting with the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission Chair and Vice-Chair at the State Capitol in Austin to discuss our shared goal of stamping out government waste. I will be announcing introduction of my legislation to help save more of taxpayers’ hard-earned money. In Congress, I’ve been working to create a Federal Sunset Commission, based on the successful Texas model, that would improve government accountability and help ensure our tax dollars are spent efficiently. Congress moved a step closer to establishing this important body when the Senate recently passed an amendment I sponsored that lays the groundwork for a Federal Sunset Commission to eliminate government waste and increase oversight of ineffective programs.

South Texas Vets 3 Email from Senator John Cornyn 4 16 09On Friday I am joining Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at Fort Sam Houston to visit our nation’s wounded warriors receiving medical care at the Warrior and Family Support Center. These brave soldiers and their families have sacrificed so much for our nation, and I look forward to thanking them for their exemplary service. The Warrior and Family Support Center plays a vital role in treating both the visible and invisible injuries that our soldiers face as a result of their service, and we must continue to ensure the needs of our servicemen and women are adequately met as they recover from their injuries and return home. I recently reintroduced legislation that would authorize construction of a VA hospital for veterans in the Rio Grande Valley, who currently have to drive hours out of their way to receive medical treatment. Service members and veterans in Texas and across our nation have earned access to the high-quality medical treatment through their enormous sacrifices for our nation.

To receive additional updates, please select the issues that interest you listed on the right. It’s an honor to serve you in the United States Senate.

New Cigarrete Tax: Who is getting hurt?

April 3, 2009 by OpinionHead

Taxes only on the Wealthy, yeah right! It is well known that the “less fortunate” are the ones that smoke the most cigarettes, so increasing the tax on them is hurting the very people that the lier of all liers, comrade Obama, had promissed would not get a tax increase. Follow this link to see how much extra you will be paying. (at the bottom of the page)

Here is a video on the subject

I personally don’t smoke, I used to a long time ago, but I am sure that everyone knows people who will be affected by this. Here is where I get confused, this is to fund SCHIP? Ok, kids need health care, but, did you have insurance when you were a kid? I didn’t, and I still grew up!

I am sorry, I am just jealous I guess. Maybe it is the thought of an even larger government? Maybe it is the government control? Maybe it is that feeling of looming oppression? I just wonder what is going to get taxed next, air? I am sorry if I sound bitter, but I believe that we each have to sink or swim on our own, yes, those that have VALID disabilities, or are really old, do need help, but it should come from a local resource, starting with the family and moving outwards to friends, then to the community, but keep government out of it, if you get something from the government, there are always strings attached, like new taxes!

Just so that you know, Glenn Beck is going to a Tea Party in San Antonio, that place is going to get packed! If you are in the area, make sure that you show up, I’ll be that fat guy with a tie dye! Hope to see you there!

Medical Marijuana:Good or Bad?

March 30, 2009 by OpinionHead

weed 300x378 Medical Marijuana:Good or Bad?Medical Marijuana, this is one of those touchy subjects that can get you into trouble if you end up on the wrong side of the law! However, it is a big issue in this country, but why?

Well, have you ever been in pain? No, I don’t meant one of those little things like a toothache, I mean chronic pain, pain that just will not go away, pain that makes it impossible to even eat, sleep or function in any way, I have, and it is not fun.

This is one of those areas that moves me far away from the standard “conservative” viewpoint, because I have been there! We have all seen those horror movies they used to show kids, and I can tell you those propaganda films are wrong, wrong in their presentation, because all they do is make kids want to try it! However, that is not the point of this article.

The point I want to make is not about “legalizing” Pot, it is about Freedom! I guess this is a “Libertarian” thing, what else could I call it? We all have a right to our Opinions, and this is mine, “If smoking pot helps you, either deal with pain, or whatever, it is your choice, you can go get a ‘legal’ prescription, for some very potent narcotics or antidepressants that are also expensive, and addictive, or, you can smoke a joint”, but, if you get caught with weed, you get in trouble! Personally, I find this a bit strange, after all, marijuana is just a plant, and God made plants!

Opinions very wildly on this one, but, if you look at it from an open minded point of view, and think about what I am saying, maybe you will be able to understand why medical marijuana is such a big issue in this country.

We all keep hearing about the drug war, ok, why? We hear about the narco-gangs and cartels, and how evil they are, ok, true. The question is, why do they exist? Simple, it is just business, supply and demand, what the war is trying to accomplish, is to eliminate the supply, and we all know, that will never work as long as there is a demand, all it does is make the price go up! I have never heard of a stoner, robbing anyone to get weed, just crackheads and heroine addicts and the like, but not a pothead! I guess it is like oil, when we stop buying gasoline, the price goes down, the the oil companies cut down the supply and the gas prices go up!

I believe that anyone that is a “stoner” will agree with this, pot is not the problem, hard drugs are! So what is the difference? Simple, God made Pot, it is just a plant! Cocaine and heroin also come from plants, BUT, they are processed and altered, haven’t you ever had a burger with poppy seeds on the bun? Hmm, that is the plant heroin comes from, could you imagine a burger with pot seeds on it? The poor hemp plant gets a bad deal on this, it is used to make all kinds of things, just don’t smoke it! Makes you wonder who found out that smoking hemp would get you high?

I find it a bit strange, tobacco is legal, pot isn’t, tobacco causes cancer, pot doesn’t, alcohol is legal, alcohol gives you a hangover, pot doesn’t, funny huh? Remember prohibition, didn’t work did it, but, there were many a cartel that got rich from it, funny, they became famous, folklore and movies were made, moonshiners and the revenuers, hey, what was that last word? Revenuers! Why was operating a still illegal? Because the government couldn’t get their tax money! Why is it illegal to grow your own? I think, because they can’t tax it!

Think about this, food is not taxed, at least not here in Texas, but beer and booze are. We can make our own beer and wine, and yes, I have brewed a lot of beer. If it were legal to “grow your own”, what could be wrong with that? Growing your own food is not taxed, because you plant a seed and it grows and you eat it, I fail to see the difference. See where I am headed with this?

Imagine, if growing your own, would allow you to avoid buying the expensive prescription narcotics, who would that hurt? The pharmaceutical companies? No, they make plenty of different products, and those narcotics are needed for many things, so, who would it hurt? The tax man, the revenuers, thats who!

Regardless of your view on marijuana and the comparison to tobacco, beer and booze as to its effects, you are free to buy tobacco, beer and booze, but not weed, this is an issue of freedom! Hey, abortion is legal, because they say, it is about choice, but a baby must die to exercise this “choice”, if one “chooses” to smoke weed, you don’t kill anything but a brain cell or two, just like tobacco, beer and booze, so, why don’t we have that choice? I have a feeling that there will be a few “stoners” at the upcoming tea parties, why not, it is all about the same thing, telling government that we are here, and to get out of our lives, and our pocketbooks!

To sum it up, I am a firm believer in Freedom, and if burning a doobie can help you cope with pain, or another medical problem, and it hurts no one, what is the problem? Below you will find several videos, not in any particular order, but all are interesting and related to this article, so, take a look.

Here we go, now the government is running businesses!

wagner gm ceo 300x207 Here we go, now the government is running businesses! So, did Obama just call him up and say, “your fired” or what? I am sorry, I have no sympathy for Rick Wagner, GM has had issues for decades now, I used to sell Chevrolets, but I have always bought Ford! Funny thing is, the dealers would not let me park my ford anywhere customers could see it, I had to park behind the dealership! Sorry, had to vent a bit!

I just say that the government has NO business firing anyone!

I doubt that most people know who GM’s “target” customers are, now don’t get mad at me, this is not my view, it is what they taught us when I sold Chevy’s, well, I could try and remember the long way they worded it, but, I won’t, let me say it as direct as I can, Chevies are for the dumb rednecks,Buick is for old people, Pontiac is a sporty, more expensive version of the same stuff, and Saturn is for anyone wanting to pay extra, just so they don’t have to negotiate!

Anyway, back to the point, since GM sucked, because they let the unions run them down and take over, GM should have just filed bankruptcy and started over!  So, why didn’t they? If your business is sucking, does the FedZilla show up and bail you out? Heck no! So why do they bail out GM and Chrysler? I can sum that up in one word, UNIONS! Obama is the Union President, he got elected by the unions so, he has to watch out for them. We the People now own them!

Since GM took the bailout money, that makes them “subjects” of the Obama kingdom, so, King Obama can just call them up and fire them! Keep this in mind, if you want any Government money, “welfare”, “Unemployment” and so on, if you take it, they own you!

Now don’t get , me wrong, the problem with the unions are not the “people” that are the members, it is the leadership, the ones that the union members pay, just so they can have a job! Anyone would want a job with big “benefits”, but it is all of these entitlements that have hurt GM, and if we don’t watch out, and we let King Obama get his social issues shoved down our throats, and let him start even worse “benefit” programs for our nation, we will all be in the same boat as GM! Our Government is broke, just like GM, but they can print money! We must tell them to stop!

As I said, GM is now owned by the government, but remember who owns the government? We the People thats who, it is up to us to tell them to stop the madness! Quit spending our money! Since we own the Government, lets fire them like Obama did Wagner!

Why did Texas refuse money from FedZilla?

March 30, 2009 by OpinionHead

rickperry1 Why did Texas refuse money from FedZilla? Why did Texas tell Fedzilla thanks, but, no thanks? As it is, from my perspective, here in Texas, the polititians that you never hear about, are, invisible, because if you don’t hear any loud exchanges, there is no media coverage.

This is just wrong! I want everyone to know that I am not the only one that does not want anything from FedZilla except for what it is supposed to provide, as in The Constitution. Texas Governor, Rick Perry has declined the money from that Porkulus bill, why? Here is an excerpt from a video, found on the Governors website. (note that I would have the video here but it is not embeddable)

After careful review of the federal government’s stimulus package, Gov. Perry opted against the required expansion of the state’s unemployment insurance program, due to its long-term negative impact on the Texas economy

Here is a link to the site so that you can hear it yourself, there are also other audio messages that you can listen to. I am sorry that the rest of the world is having problems, but, if you visit Texas, you will not see the same issues, things are pretty good here actually, I am proud of Governor Perry for having the intelligence, and the guts, to Just Say No!

I am hoping to see him show up at one of the Tea Parties in Texas on April 15th, but I doubt that he will, although, that would be a fantastic political move for the next election! I have a feeling that the next elections are going to bring “Real” and drastic changes to our government, because from the signs at the tea parties, and all of the talk at The912Project.com, I can hardly wait!

What will Obamas Socialist Plans Cost Us? Cap and Trade?

March 30, 2009 by OpinionHead

When Obama talks, people listen, or do they? So often, when Obamas lips are flapping, all he is doing is emitting hot air (talk about greenhouse gases)! Now we all know about his teleprompter, isn’t it time to start “hearing” what he is actually saying?

This video is perfect for what I am trying to say, why, because there is no video, it is just audio and a still picture! Why is this so perfect, you may be wondering, because you can read and listen at the same time!

If you notice, this was recorded way before he became President, he mentions that this could come up in the “general elections”, and basically was saying “hey, I can say whatever I want, I can tell you that your light bill is going to skyrocket, I can tell you that, because I can sell it” , if you weren’t paying attention then, maybe you will now!

Now to the issues:

What is “Cap and Trade”? This is a term used to define one of those “Green”  beliefs, that you put a cap, a limit, on the “greenhouse gas” emissions and trade by pushing a green agenda through, that will ultimately result in using less of what ever it was that they put the cap on!

Sticking with electricity production as the bad guy, the one that needs to be capped, what Obama wants to do, is make the power producers spend a ton of cash, or, go deep in debt, to create a “greener” method for this production, in other words, “lets make them (energy producers) spend so much, and pass on that debt, that Americans will go broke just trying to pay their light bill”! Hey, what population is going to rise up and defend itself from big government spending, and a dictatorial take over, if they can’t even pay their light bill?

The good news is, inthe long run, after all of the poor and old people have died off from exposure to heat and cold, the younger generations that survive, will be used to paying over 50 cents a KW (kilowatt) for electricity, and will have developed new technology that uses less energy! Can you see where this is headed?

Obama is not even considering the “now” all he is doing is planning for the society that may or may not survive!

I know this sounds a bit crazy, right now, but wait a few years, if it even takes that long. Think about this, what are you currently paying for a KW of electricity? Think about this one real good, remember when gas prices went from 15 cents a gallon to a dollar? I do! That was when I was a kid cutting grass, I got paid a quarter, bought a gallon of gas, a candy bar, and a soda! Then, I got my first truck, paid 35 cents a gallon to fill it up, the first time, the second time it was 75 cents a gallon, and the third was over a dollar! That is the way electricity will be!

Once Obama gets his “cap and trade” plans shoved down our throats, like he did, porkulus, and the other stuff, it will not take long! We all now that it costs money to produce electricity. It is a simple matter of converting one form of energy into another, be it coal, natural gas, or nuclear ( the clean one), which ever, that fuel and the technology to process it, is where the big changes will come.

What was it, about six years ago, I paid (In Houston, Texas) about 10 cents a KW (once all of the taxes and fees were added), to about 15 cents, that is when I moved up here to the sticks. A buddy of mine, in Houston, tells me that he is paying over 20 cents a KW now. Here, things went from about 6 or 7 cents per KW to over 10 cents per KW, during that same time. So, what happens next? Have you ever looked at a utility, phone, lights, gas, cable, what ever bill? See all of those little taxes and fees?

Once this “Cap and Trade” crap becomes a reality, that list of fees and taxes will definitely change, not to mention the rates themselves!

Follow this link, and you will see a list of “green” terms, one of them I will Illustrate as an example of how insane these “green” or “global warming” Al Gore freaks are!

blacksurfing
Blacksurfing is surfing search engine results using an inverted palette, with white text on a black body. Shifting a high traffic website, like Google, from a white background to a black background can save substantial energy. An all-white web page uses about 74 watts to display on a CRT monitor as compared to an all-black page that uses only 59 watts. See Blackle, an energy-saving search engine that uses Google’s custom search. The efficacy of this practice is hotly debated, so be sure to consult Mark Ontkush’s post on the topic before you suggest using it. (ecoIron)

Once we allow the government to take over our lives, and control everything, it will be too late! This article is about just one of the many things that our government wants to do to us, “for our own good” because we are too stupid to see that we are being put under the control of a “socialist” system, at best, and I would hate to even think of what the worst could be, but, I can say this, there are a lot of similarities of what is happenning now, and what happened when Adolf  Hitler took over, and he was a very popular guy too! So, take action now, visit the912project.com and get involved, We the People are not alone, we can do something about this!

California is Broke! Is this new or has it been a long time coming?

california broke 300x205 California is Broke! Is this new or has it been a long time coming?I find it almost amusing, state after state, business after business, all of them broke! Why is it amusing? Hey, when you spend more than you make, what happens? When you have ultra liberal spending policies, for decades, what happens? When you get a new, spendaholic liberal president, and the handout line is forming, what do ya do? Get in line thats what!

Read the articlle on CNN.com California to lay off 20,000 if budget deal isn’t reached, all of this and more, has been building for a long, long time, but now that Uncle Obama is handing out the cash, everybody wantys some!

Go ahead, try and blame Bush and the Republicans, but look into it, you will see that this is just a snowball reaching its potential at the bottom of the hill! What needs to happen, is these liberal governments need to layoff about 75% of the employees that are just there to suck on the government tit anyway, good riddence I say! In the real world, government type benefits would be wasteful spending, if the government cant function as it is, how the heck are they supposed to run everything? By doubling, or tripling in size, Fedzilla will only get worse! I say lay them off, lay off 95% of Washington too! Let the natural order of things take care of it!

The $1,000,000,000,000 Mistake

The $1,000,000,000,000 Mistake

By Congressman Michael McCaul

(Washington D.C.)- {For a time when the nation is full of talk of change, the Democrat leadership in Washington seems committed to repeating the mistakes of the past.

The so-called stimulus package presented to us this week is no stimulus at all. In reality, it’s a Trojan Horse for billions of dollars in pork barrel spending. Democrats have said repeatedly that there is not a single earmark in this bill. In fact, the stimulus bill itself is one giant earmark, a massive collection of unnecessary spending, pet projects, and kickbacks to well-heeled contributors.

While I do support some provisions of the bill such as the tax relief and investments in infrastructure, only 17% of this $1 trillion bill provides new tax relief and less than 10% provides new roads and bridges.
This economic crisis demands leadership. It demands immediate tax relief for working families, and help for America’s small businesses, giving them the funds they need to stop the layoffs and hire more employees. It demands that we stabilize home values, and yes, give assistance to the unemployed. All these goals are fulfilled in an alternative plan that I support, but to which the Democrats gave little consideration.

We cannot spend our way out of debt. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office says that long-term, this package will do more harm than good. And the President’s own analysts and economic advisors say the Republican plan, which institutes long-term, meaningful tax cuts for individuals and small businesses, will create twice as many jobs for half the cost of the stimulus package. According to their calculations, this alternative stimulus would create an estimated 490,000 jobs in Texas, compared to only 204,000 in the final bill.

At a critical moment in America’s history – when our nation desperately needs strong, principled leadership – Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid are bent on taking advantage of this crisis and manipulating the fears of American taxpayers to their own ends. Instead of creating jobs, they’re focused on pushing through massive overreaches of government.

Consider Welfare spending. One measure in the bill seeks to take limits off of Welfare spending that President Clinton imposed 12 years ago. University of Texas professor and former assistant Health and Human Services Secretary Benjamin Sasse, explains that, “Through a little noticed provision of the stimulus package that has passed the House of Representatives, the bill creates a fund that is open-ended.” Sasse explains the provision would essentially remove the five year limit on federal benefits and jeopardize the requirement that recipients begin working after two years of government support.

The stimulus package also includes a step toward government-run healthcare. It creates a new entity of bureaucratic oversight, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, to monitor your treatments. Thanks to this stimulus package, government will be looking over the shoulder of your doctor, preventing him from giving you any treatment they deem “not cost-effective.”

How does putting a bureaucrat in Washington in charge of your health care stimulate the economy? How does it create jobs to roll back welfare reform, unleashing an endless stream of government handouts?
Perhaps my favorite line item in this stimulus package is for $300 million to purchase golf carts. Something’s wrong with this picture when an economic stimulus package includes $300 million of hard-earned taxpayer money for buying $40,000 apiece golf carts. No one seems to know where they’ll even be used!

In times of crisis, history should be our guide. It’s worth remembering an old statement from Henry Morgenthau Jr., the famous Treasury Secretary under President Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Great Depression, who confessed, “We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before, and it does not work.”

Printing money we don’t have will only result in inflation thereby increasing interest rates on credit card purchases and home mortgages.
