I have a draft of another post lying around, but I thought I’d post this video I stumbled across.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knRLJp-nqSg
It’s a conversation between the Dutch radical comedian Hans Teeuwen and three muslim women who feel insulted by a speech of his. Some would call him a an islamophobe or hater for his attitude, but I don’t agree with that. His basic mission is to entertain, even if it means insulting some ethnic or religious group. While I don’t believe everyone should behave the way he does, I think he makes some valid points about freedom of speech. Some religious people (Both muslims and people of other religions) seem to think that they have a special right over other people not to be insulted. If we accept this, freedom of speech is seriously jeopardized.

Did I read that right? Isn’t Afghanistan one of the good guys now? The only thing this guy did, was download and print a paper from the Internet that humiliated Islam? It seems to me that these actions by the court do more to humiliate Islam that any paper could, no matter what it said! Here is another twist, it was written by an Iraqi!
“We completely condemn this trial,” Samandar said. “It goes against the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press.”
Well, I sure hope they get this straight, doesn’t make them look too free if you ask me!
